Where to Submit: Depending on an applicant’s status and the award type, CIHR applications are to be submitted through a Canadian university or directly to CIHR. Applicants must consult the CIHR website to determine where their application should be submitted.
Students applying for CIHR Master's Award 2011 - 2012 Competition are required to submit their application to University of Calgary using the online application form available through ResearchNet .
When to Submit (Deadlines): For applications submitted directly to CIHR, please refer to the CIHR Web site for deadlines and other instructions.
The deadline for students to complete the ResearchNet application and to submit it on-line to the University of Calgary for internal review is Wednesday, December 14, 2011 by 4.30 pm. All applications will be reviewed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Scholarship Committee. Master students cannot apply directly to CIHR.

NEW: Please note that starting with the 2011 CIHR Master Award Competition, students are no longer required to submit paper original transcripts and signature pages to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. CIHR applicants applying through the University of Calgary will have to make a request to have their transcripts uploaded to their application by the University Designate. This can be accomplished by indicating Erin Coburn as the University Designate and sending an e-mail to the following address gsaward [at] ucalgary [dot] ca. Please ensure that the University of Calgary has the most complete copy of transcripts from your previous educational institution. Contact your Graduate Program Administrator for this information. Please note that transcripts and two reference letters must be attached to your ResearchNet application before it is considered complete.
Students are encouraged to follow up routinely with their requests to ensure that all necessary documents are attached to their application by the submission deadline. No late applications will be accepted.
Signature pages: under Signature of Institution Paid (block 2) students should obtain the signature of their Graduate Director or Head of Department. No signature is required under Signature of Research Institution, unless applicant plans to take up his/ her award at another university.
Letters of reference content (under Identify sponsors task on your ResearchNet online application): your referees will be asked to rate and comment on your following academic characteristics: critical thinking, independence, perseverance, originality, organizational skills, interest in discovery and communication skills.
