Graduate Studies
2012 National Results to be announced Spring 2012. NSERC will notify students directly.
General information
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is one of three federal agencies (Tri-Council) that provide research funding for university students, postdoctoral fellows and professors. NSERC funds research in the natural sciences and engineering.
NSERC administers several funding programs for graduate students:
Effective October 2009: : In an effort to increase the University of Calgary's success rate at national level competitions, students applying for Tri-Council NSERC awards will now have the opportunity to submit additional application information to the Faculty of Graduate Studies Scholarship Office after the deadline date to submit applications to their programs has passed.
Students will submit a complete application online through the NSERC Online Services Component. The complete application will be adjudicated at the University level by the Faculty of Graduate Studies NSERC Subcommittee.
Should students receive confirmation of a new publication, award or assigned grade after their application has been submitted for adjudication (but before it is forwarded to the national competition), they will be able to supply this new information to the Graduate Scholarship Office. The Tri-Council NSERC competition will have a second deadline date by which new or updated information must be submitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The new information will be added to the application when a student's application is ranked high enough to be forwarded to the national level competition.
