Graduate Studies
Special awards are open to students from more than one program and support a particular area of interest or field of study. Bursaries are open to students who meet the eligibility criteria and are assessed as having financial need equal to or greater than the value of the bursary.
As well as confirming academic merit, adjudicators confirm the applicant meets the field of study or other specific eligibility criteria stated in the terms of reference. The applicant is then ranked against all other applicants for that particular award. It is important for students to consult the terms of reference for each award within the special awards and bursary competition in order to ensure that any special eligibility requirements are met.
The only awards available under the RECALL for The Special Awards and Bursaries Competition 2011 are:
Interested students should submit completed applications (see below) including all of the supporting documents to the Graduate Studies Office (ES720) by 4.30pm December 14th, 2011. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Students should refer to the full Terms of Reference for each award to ensure that they meet eligibility, as detailed on the Graduate Awards Database
(under view for each individual award) and submit their application(s) accordingly.
Please note that for this competition The Faculty of Graduate Studies will accept:
- faxed or e-mailed reference letters provided that they are sent by the referees to student's program. Program will print them, attach the e-mail or the fax cover page, put them in an envelope, seal and sign the flap and give them to the student. The reference letters should be on institutional/organizational letterhead and should be sent from an institutional/organizational fax number or e-mail address (Yahoo or Hotmail addresses will not be accepted). A signature is required on the reference letter or the Scholarship Reference Form or in the body of the e-mail. The FGS will not follow up to obtain the form or the letter if either one is omitted from the application package.
- up to date copies of student's transcripts (including UofC transcripts even if no marks are assigned), certified as true copies of the original by the program and included in a sealed and signed envelope before they are handed to the student.
