Students admitted before Fall 2014
Students admitted prior to September 1, 2014, can choose to have their examinations conducted under the new or the old regulations.
Policy Changes
Please review the Policy Comparison Chart to understand the differences between the old and new policies. Candidacy

New FGS Candidacy Regulations are now in effect. The new regulations ask each program to set program-specific candidacy requirements that comply with FGS Candidacy Regulations. All programs are revising their candidacy requirements and will make them available to students when they are approved by FGS.
Please consult with your program to learn about any changes to candidacy requirements.
Students will follow the old regulations until their program’s new candidacy requirements are approved and implemented. Once new candidacy requirements are in effect, current students will have the choice to follow old or new candidacy requirements. For example, if a program’s new candidacy requirements are approved and effective starting September 1, 2015, students admitted before September 1 can choose to meet old or new candidacy requirements, and students admitted for Fall 2015 will have to meet the new candidacy requirements.
Plan early! It's important to know which set of regulations you plan to follow so you can adequately prepare for your candidacy examination. Consult with your supervisor(s) early to understand your options.
