To be considered for admission to your graduate program, you must meet the admission requirements set out by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and by your graduate program of interest.
If you have been granted Permanent Residency or Citizenship in Canada but your education took place in another country, you will also want to check the admission requirements for that country.
If your primary language is not English, you may fulfill the English language proficiency requirement in one of the following ways (scores below are for valid for Fall 2016 admission. For winter 2017 admissions, see new scores in the academic calendar):
- TOEFL score of 86 with no section less than 20 (Internet-based) or 560 (paper-based). Our institution code is 0813.
- IELTS score of 6.5 with no section less than 6.0 (academic version)
- MELAB score of 80, or higher
- PTE score of 59, or higher (academic version)
- By successfully completing Tier 3 of the University of Calgary's International Foundations Program
Some graduate programs may require higher scores higher. Please contact your graduate program of interest for further information.

Each graduate program determines whether to recommend the admission of a particular applicant to the Faculty of Graduate Studies based on departmental considerations.

Tuition & Fees
International students pay both tuition and general fees. Tuition fees for international students are higher than the regular tuition fees for graduate students.
